Good news for California Notaries Public!
Effective January 1, 2017, the new law allows for charging up to $15 for acknowledgements, jurats and certifying copies of powers of attorney. That is a 50% increase from the current $10 maximum fee. Remember the maximum fee pertains to each signature being notarized.
So, starting in 2017, when a husband and wife, for example, have their signatures notarized on a document, you can charge $30 for notarizing the two signatures in addition to your mobile service fee if you provided mobile services.
